Put a black slide or a duplicate of your title slide at the end of your
presentation. PowerPoint will go to a black slide at the end, but it puts
that annoying white "End of Presentation" text at the top of the screen. It is
far more 'elegant' to have the screen blanked or a logo slide on-screen so you
can continue talking with your audience without the distractions of the last
slide or PowerPoint itself appearing on-screen. In fact, I always add two
slides to the end. It costs nothing and an accidental click of the mouse doesn't return
you to PowerPoint.
Put
a shortcut to you presentation right on your desktop, so you can boot up and
double-click it. You could also use PowerPoint's "Pack and Go"
feature so you don't even have to see PowerPoint itself to run the presentation.
In case it gets 'projected',
tidy up your PC Desktop. Use your company logo as a wallpaper, not pictures of your
children! Place the shortcut to your presentation right in the
middle. It shows you prepared especially for your audience.
Finally,
if you're using your laptop to present from, turn off all your
screensavers. If you stop to talk abut a subject for a few minutes, it
will not impress your audience to see dancing sheep (or something similar)
appear! Also, if you can, disable any power management systems that may
blank your screen or turn off your hard drive after so many minutes.
