"Ahh right. Is this connected? It is, oh
great. What's the key combination to get it on-screen?
Function-F5? Nope. Oh, second press, yep. Do you have a
mouse? Oh, I'd need to reboot would I? Oh, OK, never mind, I'll walk
back and hit the spacebar. Sorry about this slight delay folks, I'm
John Smith and I'll be talking about stationery. Nice to see you all here
today. Ah, here we go. I'll just load up the presentation.
Where is it now? Ah here it is. Just wait while it loads now.
OK, We're away... Good morning everyone."
Know the key combination to transfer video output to a
projector or screen. Find out what makes the picture appear on both,
so you can place your laptop in front of you. That way you can see
what's on-screen without turning your back on your audience.
Use a mouse to change slides. Find a small mouse with
a long lead and keep it for the purpose. Use it like a slide projector
remote and keep it in your hand so you can stand away from the laptop.
Once you have the presentation on screen, but before you
start, wiggle the mouse so PowerPoint's icons appear in the left hand
corner. Click the up arrow and choose [Pointer Options]
[Hidden]. It takes two seconds, shows you know PowerPoint, and stops
any mouse movement bringing up the cursor arrow on screen.
